Biography
Formed toward the close of 1988, the Deep Listening Band originally united Pauline Oliveros on accordion and electronics, Stuart Dempster on trombone and didjeridu, and Panaiotis, with David Gamper, who contributes keyboards and electronics, entering the lineup in 1990 before Panaiotis departed in 1993. Seeking locations prized for their distinctive acoustics, the ensemble has worked in environments ranging from caves to the two million gallon cistern at Fort Warden, WA. Across multiple labels the Deep Listening Band has issued seven albums while its members have simultaneously pursued numerous separate endeavors.
