Biography
Jay B leads the South Korean boy band GOT7 and has helped shape the mainstream K-pop and Korean hip-hop styles that currently prevail across the market. Recording as Def., he delivers a more underground version of those same sounds, issuing his first EP, LOVE., in 2022.
A central presence in the South Korean pop sphere, Jay B (Lim Jae-beom) embodies the glossy production values that define the K-pop landscape through his work with GOT7, JJ Project, and the latter’s sub-unit Jus2. Eager to test new ground, he began issuing music under the Def. alias, which opened space for a more experimental and alternative approach to the K-pop template. He first applied the name within the R&B crew ØFFSHORE, formed alongside RoseInPeace; the collective released three EPs from 2019 to 2021. In the final year of that span Jay B stepped out with the solo debut “Is It a Dream?,” then followed it with the 2022 EP LOVE.
