Despite receiving less attention from critics than many peers in the independent rap community—possibly owing to their unhurried pace of releases—Black Moon has stood out as one of the stronger acts in that circle. The lineup of Buckshot, 5Ft, and DJ Evil Dee entered the scene in 1993 with Enta da Stage, a standout effort that carried abundant old-school flavor through cuts such as "How Many Emcees" and "Who Got the Props." Their remix project Diggin' in dah Vaults arrived in 1996, after which the second album War Zone surfaced on Priority in early 1999. Duck Down released the third LP Total Eclipse in 2003.
