M.O.P.

M.O.P. emerged as a hardcore rap duo when Lil' Fame and Billy Danzenie joined forces. Their initial single, "How About Some Hardcore," gained traction and paved the way for the debut album To the Death, which arrived in the spring of 1994. Firing Squad came out two years after that. March 1998 saw the arrival of their third effort, First Family 4 Life, with Warriorz appearing in the ensuing two years. Warriorz's achievements elevated the group's visibility and secured airplay on mainstream radio stations. Around 2002, complications with their label stranded the act until Roc-A-Fella Records signed them, resulting in a feature on Jay-Z's The Blueprint²: The Gift & the Curse. Though they kept busy with recordings and soundtrack contributions, Roc-A-Fella never issued a complete M.O.P. album, leading to a split in 2005. G-Unit Records then became their new home, where they put out the compilation M.O.P. Salutes the St. Marxmen. Ghetto Warfare, an album previously tracked and set aside by Roc-A-Fella, followed in 2006. The year 2008 brought The Legends Underground, Vol. 5 along with news that the G-Unit partnership had concluded. E1 Music hosted the release of The Foundation in 2009.
