Biography
Denise Donatelli first showed an early musical bent by picking out “Silent Night” on the piano at age three. A victory at the National Music Federation piano competition when she turned six ushered in fourteen years of classical study at the keyboard. She later suspended those ambitions to concentrate on raising her children. After a divorce in the late ’80s and a move to Atlanta, she began singing jazz and landed a steady engagement at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, eventually shifting her base to Los Angeles. Jazzed Media issued her debut album, In the Company of Friends, on June 7, 2005. Savant Records followed with What Lies Within on August 12, 2008; the set reached number 11 on the National Jazz Week radio chart. Two years afterward, on September 14, 2010, When Lights Are Low appeared as her third release, and Soul Shadows arrived as the fourth in 2012.
