Biography
Denise Jannah, the jazz vocalist whose honeyed voice carries a classic timbre, placed solo albums before U.S. listeners for more than ten years, although her singing began far earlier. She divided her childhood between Surinam and Holland, then studied at the Hilversum Conservatory and received her diploma in 1971. Her debut American album, Take It From the Top, appeared in 1991. A Heart Full of Music and I Was Born in Love With You came next. In 2000 Jannah became the first Dutch solo artist to issue a Blue Note album, The Madness of Our Love.
