Biography
The lineup of Dustin O'Halloran on guitar and keyboards, Sara Lov on vocals, Ed Maxwell on bass, and Evan Schnabel on drums generates the dark, lush sounds that define The Devics. The Los Angeles-based group entered the rock scene in the early 1990s after founding their own imprint, Splinter Records. Their debut album Buxom arrived as a self-release in 1996, with If You Forget Me following two years later. By the start of the new millennium, an atmospheric, goth-like approach had come to shape the band's work. The Ghost in the Girl EP highlighted their musical growth and caught the attention of Bella Union, which led to a signing and the 2001 issuance of My Beautiful Sinking Ship. Dates with Lift to Experience, Thalia Zedek, and Elysian Fields occupied the band throughout 2002.
