Diamond Platnumz, the Tanzanian performer born Naseeb Abdul Juma near Dar es Salaam, first rose to prominence through bongo flava singles such as "Number One" and "Kamwambie." His sound fuses hip-hop, reggae, R&B, Afro-beat, and dancehall with longstanding African forms like taarab and dansi, yielding high-energy dance tracks built for the floor. The 2010 release "Kamwambie" served as his breakthrough single and lent its title to his debut album; the follow-up project, Lala Salama, arrived soon afterward. Among Tanzanian artists he ranks among the highest-paid while also holding one of the strongest award records: at the 2014 Tanzania Music Awards he collected seven honors—including Best Male Writer, Best Male Artist, Best Song Writer, and Male Entertainer of the Year—making him the most decorated artist in the ceremony’s history. Another major success came in 2016 with "Kidogo," a duet alongside Nigerian R&B duo P-Square that drew directly from Lionel Richie’s "All Night Long."
