Mbosso

Renowned for percussive guitar work and deeply expressive vocals, Mbosso has become one of Bongo Flava’s foremost voices, the genre that merges American hip-hop with indigenous Tanzanian traditions.

Born Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi, he first gained attention as a member of the boy group Yamoto Band before striking out alone and building a thriving solo career by the close of the 2010s. Breakthrough arrived in 2018 via the chart-topping singles “Jibebe” and “Hodari,” with further acceleration following his signing to Diamond Platnumz’s WCB imprint. In 2020 he delivered the singles “Tamba,” “Haijakaa Sawa,” and “Tamba Magufuli.”
