Edson & Hudson

Huelinton Cadorini Silva, born on August 23, 1974, and his brother Udson Cadorini Silva, born on August 16, 1972, perform together under the name Edson & Hudson and rank among the leading sertaneja figures of their era. The pair grew up in a family of traveling circus artists, which meant constant movement during their childhood, yet their musical interests received strong support right from the start. Their father, Beijinho, discovered the boys singing outdoors at home and chose to nurture that ability, leading them to appear soon afterward in village squares, bars, and dancehalls before appreciative crowds.

Specializing in sertaneja, the Brazilian country style named for the Sertão region, or back country, the duo issued their first recording, the self-titled Edson & Hudson, in 1995. That debut moved 45,000 copies, and each later release posted stronger numbers, establishing Edson & Hudson as the standout act in the style. Their 2002 album Acustico (Ao Vivo) surpassed 180,000 units sold and produced radio staples across Brazil. Momentum carried into a 2005 contract with EMI Brazil that yielded Galera Coracao, promptly followed by matching live CD and DVD editions. Further releases such as Duas Vidas Dois Amores and Na Moda do Brasil sustained their progress through 2006 and 2007 despite the style’s specialized audience.
