Biography
After completing his training with Jos van Immerseel, Belgian harpsichordist Ewald Demeyere obtained a master's degree from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in 1997. He subsequently delivered instruction in harmony, counterpoint, and fugue at the same conservatory and, in 2002, assumed the harpsichord professorship that had been vacated by van Immerseel. Chamber-music partnerships have linked him with Barthold Kuijken, Sigiswald Kuijken, Wieland Kuijken, Paul Dombrecht, and Frank Theuns, while ensemble affiliations have placed him among the ranks of Il Fondamento and La Petite Bande. His instrument is a modern replica, built by Augusto Bonza after an eighteenth-century original by Henri Hemsch, and his recordings appear on Accent and Challenge Classics.
