Originating from Long Island, guitarist Faine Jade launched his performing and recording efforts in the mid-'60s through membership in the Rustics, delivering straightforward, high-energy tracks steeped in youthful turmoil that closely resembled the output of countless comparable garage acts scattered nationwide. Following the 1966 single issued with the Rustics, he cut a 45 under his own name in 1967 titled "It Ain't True," later retrieved from neglect for inclusion on the Pebbles, Vol. 8 compilation. The 1968 solo LP Introspection: A Faine Jade Recital, released on the small R.S.V.P. label, marked a striking advance in his songcraft through introspective, cryptic lyrics paired with fluid yet tightly controlled melodic lines. That album has stood among the most sought-after artifacts from the psychedelic period and has seen multiple reissues starting in the early '80s. After contributing to an album with the country-rock outfit Dustbowl Clementine in 1970, Jade largely stepped away from activity.
