Biography
Filippo Mineccia, an Italian countertenor, focuses his expertise on the castrato works from the 18th century. Born in Florence, he pursued his initial musical training at the Fiesole School of Music, where he also participated in the choir. Under the guidance of Gianni Fabbrini and Donatella Debolini, he completed his studies and received his diploma from the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence. Several vocal competitions awarded him prizes, after which he joined numerous early music groups for performances, such as Il Complesso Barocco, La Cappella della Pietà de Turchini, Collegium Marianum, Accademia Bizantina, I Barocchisti, and La Folia Barockorchester, to name a few. His operatic appearances have featured leading parts from the compositions of Handel, Vivaldi, Purcell, and Scarlatti, while he has also taken on solo roles in oratorios along with additional choral pieces. Pan Classics and Glossa are the labels for which he makes recordings.
