Núria Rial, the Catalan soprano, concentrates her artistry on Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, with particular depth in Monteverdi and Handel, while also commanding a broad command of European art songs. Her formal studies commenced at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona, where diplomas in voice and piano were awarded, and continued at the City of Basel Music Academy under Kurt Widmer, resulting in the solo vocalist diploma. The Helvetia Patria Jeunesse Foundation Prize from the European Foundation for Culture came to her in 2003. Across numerous collaborations with period ensembles and chamber orchestras, Rial has explored Baroque and Classical opera as well as vocal music originating in France, Germany, Spain, and Catalonia. Festival invitations have taken her throughout Europe and South America, while operatic productions have placed her on the stages of the Innsbruck Theatre, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and the Grand Théâtre in Geneva. Her discography includes releases on Sony Classical, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Mirare, and Glossa.
