Chicago vocalist Finis Henderson fronted Weapons of Peace until he pursued a solo path following his relocation to Los Angeles in the early 1980s. His father performed as a dancer while serving as vice-president of Sammy Davis Enterprises and handling management duties for performers including Jerry Butler and Brook Benton. As a teenager Henderson performed with The Dynamic 4, then entered Weapons of Peace in 1970; the lineup held together for eight years before he moved on. For a period he worked as a comedian and opened for Richard Pryor in San Francisco. Henderson shared an apartment with Al McKay of Earth, Wind And Fire, and together with Bill Wolfer they assembled the group Prophecy. Although Motown extended a solo contract, his lone 1983 recording session attracted scant attention. He also composed “Call Me,” featured on Wolfer’s 1982 album Wolf.
