The retro-rockabilly maniacs Flat Duo Jets united singer/guitarist Dexter Romweber with drummer Chris "Crow" Smith. Although the pair spent the bulk of their run based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, their first broad recognition arrived via a live appearance in the 1986 documentary Athens, GA: Inside/Out. Critical praise notwithstanding, the self-titled debut LP did not surface until 1990, with Go Go Harlem Baby arriving the next year. The band stayed loyal to independent outlets across In Stereo in 1992, White Trees in 1993, and Red Tango in 1996 before finally moving to major-label Outpost for the 1998 release of Lucky Eye, only to disband the year after. In 2008, nearly a decade following the split, Two Headed Cow appeared as a live soundtrack to the documentary of the same name chronicling Dexter Romweber and Flat Duo Jets.
