Formed in London in 2012, the noise pop group Flowers took shape after singer and bassist Rachel Kenedy replied to guitarist Sam Ayres' "vocalist wanted" notice. The pair set about crafting tracks whose sound evoked "early Madonna through a broken tape machine" while drawing inspiration from the dark, fuzzy, reverb-heavy indie pop of Black Tambourine, the Swirlies, and Henry's Dress. Drummer Jordan Hockley joined soon afterward, and the trio began frequent live appearances across the city. They later joined the Pains of Being Pure at Heart for a European tour and reached the United States to play 2013's New York Popfest. A string of 7" singles, EPs, and compilation tracks preceded the arrival of their first full-length, Do What You Want to, It's What You Should Do, in 2014. That record carried ethereal production from noted producer and former Suede songwriter Bernard Butler. For the follow-up, Flowers worked at Bark Studios with producer Brian O'Shaughnessey (the Clientele, My Bloody Valentine), resulting in a more abrasive guitar sound that mirrored their stage performances. Everybody's Dying to Meet You appeared on Fortuna Pop! in early 2016.
