Biography
Ben Garrett launched the one-man Fryars project from London, England, after first serving as drummer in Aneneomie. He handled nearly all songwriting and instrumentation for the initial Fryars outing, the Ides EP issued in 2007, though Robbie Stern, Max Bloom of Cajun Dance Party, and Jack Steadman of Bombay Bicycle Club contributed additional support. Early live appearances kept a low profile, consisting of Garrett alone at the piano in close-quarters venues. Two years afterward came the full-length debut Dark Young Hearts, colored by '80s pop, psychedelia, and EDM. Garrett resumed activity in 2014 with Power, Fryars' second album and an ambitious sci-fi concept work.
