Get Well Soon launched its recording career in 2008 with the universally praised album Rest Now, Weary Head! You Will Get Well Soon, created under the direction of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Konstantin Gropper. His broad indie-rock approach fuses folk and electronic textures with pop and classical compositional techniques. Born September 28, 1982, in Biberach an der Riß, Germany, Gropper completed his schooling in Ochsenhausen before enrolling at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim, where he trained on clavier, cello, drums, and guitar. After finishing his studies and establishing the project, he divided his time among Dublin, Ireland; London, England; and Germany. Although Gropper handles the majority of studio performances himself, live shows feature an expanded ensemble that includes Sebastian Benkler on trumpet and vocals, Timo Kumpf on bass, Maximilian Schenkel on guitar and trumpet, Verena Gropper on violin and vocals, Daniel Roos on accordion and piano, and Paul Kenny on drums. The group’s initial releases consisted of the EPs A Secret Cave, a Swan (2005), My Tiny Christmas Tragedy (2005), Glaciers, Kisses, Apples, Nuts (2006), and All That Keeps Us From Giving In (2007). Its first full-length effort, Rest Now, Weary Head! You Will Get Well Soon, appeared on the German independent imprint City Slang after roughly twelve months of work and earned near-universal praise. Following that reception, the British label Nude acquired licensing rights for worldwide distribution.
