Biography
Among the Cima family, a lineage of noted Italian composers and organists working near Rome and Milan, Giovanni Paolo ranked as the more prominent brother. He served as organist at Santa Celso in Milan and produced concerti, ricercares, and motets. He also assembled multiple works and attached an appendix that outlined correct clavichord tuning procedures based on well-tempered systems.
