Giuseppe, active during the same period as Zingarelli and Cimarosa, likewise trained at the Conservatorio Maria di Loreto in Naples under Fenaroli. His earliest opera, "L'astuto in imbroglio," was written for Pisa. Between 1779 and 1793 Giordani produced roughly thirty stage works, several of which reached the boards in Florence, Naples, Rome, and Bergamo. Seven years prior to his death he was appointed master of the chapel at Fermo Cathedral. Although the popular song "Caro mio ben" has long been credited to Tommaso, evidence points instead to Giuseppe as its composer.
