The Connecticut-based ensemble Goose, self-described as an "indie groove" outfit, draws deeply from American traditional rock, jazz, funk, folk, and progressive rock traditions. Influences from jam-band stalwarts such as Phish, Grateful Dead, and Umphrey's McGee propelled the group rapidly through that scene, a trajectory highlighted by the studio releases Shenanigans Nite Club (2021), Dripfield (2022), and Everything Must Go (2025), each reflecting their widening stylistic range and growing instrumental command. Alongside these efforts, the band has sustained an intensive touring calendar, issuing multiple live documents that include 2024's Live at the Greek Theater.

Formed in 2014 by former Vasudo members Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar), Ben Atkind (drums), and Trevor Weekz (bass) in Norwalk, Connecticut, Goose issued its first album, Moon Cabin, in 2016; keyboardist, guitarist, and vocalist Peter Anspach came aboard the next year. A standout appearance at the Allman Brothers-curated Peach Music Festival in 2019 moved the quartet into wider visibility, though the arrival of COVID-19 and its attendant restrictions nearly derailed momentum. The musicians responded by recruiting percussionist Jeff Arevalo and, throughout 2020, broadcasting a sequence of well-received, distanced performances from a Virginia barn that generated more than $100,000 and later formed the basis of the documentary Bingo Tour: The Movie.

In 2021 the group unveiled the studio album Shenanigans Nite Club together with a twenty-minute interpretation of Vampire Weekend's "2021," undertaken at the invitation of fan and VW principal Ezra Koenig. The streak continued in 2022 with Dripfield, an album that merged contemporary songwriting with the exploratory character of the band's concerts. Co-founder Ben Atkind departed in 2023, paving the way for drummer Cotter Ellis, who entered the lineup in 2024; that same year brought the concert albums Live at the Capitol Theatre, Live at the Fox Theatre, and Live at the Greek Theater. Goose's fourth studio album, the aptly titled Everything Must Go (2025), assembled material spanning the group's entire history, ranging from studio renderings of live staples such as "Thatch," "Animal," and "Silver Rising" to the lead single "Give It Time."
