Grupo Perla Colombiana

Perla Colombiana, the tropical orchestra whose name alludes to Colombia, first took shape in Mexico when Esteban Hidalgo Gutiérrez, Felix Olvera Gabriel, Martin Olvera Gabriel, and Juan Carlos López came together. Their entrance onto the scene occurred in the early ’80s through a self-titled album that contained the group’s initial hit, the track “Argollita.”

Once Juan Carlos López exited in 1990, the ensemble paused its work. Activity resumed in 1994 with the creation of the next album, Agua de Vida, which reached international markets in 1996.
