Biography
The Colombian ensemble Los Alfa 8 began its career as a salsa-only group under the leadership of percussionist Ricardo Bustos before gradually expanding its sound to include stronger cumbia influences. Energetic romantic tracks paired with lively dance numbers have formed the core of the tropical orchestra's appeal throughout its history. Marking more than twenty-five years of activity, the group learned that its 2006 album Yo Bailo Cumbia had earned a Latin Grammy nomination in the Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album category.
