Biography
Víctor Hugo Acuña and his brother Cesar first performed popular music together in the Jeekstones, a group that later adopted the name los Benkers. Their work in those early outfits laid the groundwork for one of the leading Latin pop ensembles of the 1970s. Los Pasteles Verdes formed in 1973, bringing together singer German Laos, guitarist Hugo Acuña, keyboardist Cesar Acuña, drummer Jorge Luis Principe, bassist Miguel Moreno, and percussionist Juan Vásquez. Aldo Guibovich entered the lineup as a vocalist in 1974. The single “Angelitos Negros” marked their initial success and preceded the release of their debut album Recuerdos de Una Noche. After performing across Latin America, the Peruvian group made Mexico its home for more than a decade.
