From an early point in life the Spanish singer and songwriter José Luis Perales began exploring music, taking up the lute and attempting his first compositions at sixteen. Residence in Sevilla, paired with electronics coursework at Universidad Laboral, awakened a strong interest in songcraft that produced a 1970 recording agreement after he met Rafael Trabucelli of Hispavox. The composition “Por Qué Te Vas,” recorded by Jeanette, served as his initial success. He later stepped forward as a performer with “Celos De Mi Guitarra,” a substantial regional hit that soon placed him on leading Latin American charts through romantic ballads such as “Quisiera Decir Tu Nombre” and “Y Como Es El.”
