Biography
Although not the most prominent jazz figure from Canada, Guido Basso, a trumpet and flügelhorn player, had remained active since the mid-'60s, delivering sharp, energetic solos while leading ensembles of varying sizes. Beyond those projects he also recorded smooth mainstream sessions, explored Afro-Latin and big band settings, and performed bop alongside original material. Guido Basso died on February 13, 2023, at the age of 85.
