Gusttavo Lima

Gusttavo Lima emerged as one of the rare sertanejo performers to find acclaim far beyond South America, much like Michel Teló before him, by turning a widely embraced football anthem into the foundation of his global breakthrough. Nivaldo Batista Lima entered the world in Minas Gerais, Brazil, during 1989 and spent his formative years in Goias, joining a choir as its featured soloist by the age of nine. His first album, Revelacao, appeared in 2009, with Inventor Dos Amores arriving the next year, yet the 2011 live release E Você drew the widest notice both domestically and internationally. Footballer Neymar endorsed the project’s flagship track, “Balada,” which quickly became a dominant football anthem throughout Brazil and much of Europe, topping the charts in France, Italy, and Holland. The third live album, Ao Vivo em São Paulo, followed in 2012.
