Biography
Hailing from England, guitarist and vocalist Hammond Gamble first embraced his instrument during adolescence, soon after relocating to New Zealand, the birthplace of his father. Blues immediately became his primary focus, prompting him to launch Street Talk in 1974; the ensemble issued two albums before disbanding. Chris Hillman produced the group’s opening single, while Kim Fowley oversaw its debut full-length. Gamble later issued a series of solo projects, attaining his strongest commercial result with the 1992 single “You Make the Whole World Smile,” issued under the Red Nose Band moniker and ascending to the top of New Zealand’s singles chart. Following a prolonged recording absence, he surfaced with the acoustic album Recollection, offering newly interpreted versions of material drawn from across his career.
