Biography
Harari accumulated substantial wealth by serving as South Africa’s foremost importers of soul and funk recordings. Although the ensemble delivered its vocals in Zulu and Sotho, its musical identity remained squarely aligned with American pop conventions. Throughout the 1970s the band cultivated an unusually broad multiracial audience that continued until the untimely death of one member in 1979 precipitated the group’s dissolution.
