Biography
Operating under assumed names, the Finnish heavy metal and blues-rock outfit Havana Black comprised a four-piece lineup featuring Guts on vocals, Crazy on guitar, and Risto alongside J.T. on bass. Their first domestic album appeared in 1988 and was soon followed by an international edition issued through Capitol Records. Reviewers traced the sound of Indian Warrior directly to the mid-70s recordings of Bad Company and Humble Pie, even as the band’s stage image aligned more closely with the street-oriented style of fellow Finns Hanoi Rocks. Most tracks carried over from the earlier home release, though several lyrics received adjustments to suit American listeners. Despite substantial promotional efforts, the album struggled amid a crowded field of 1970s-revival acts that included the Black Crowes and the Quireboys.
