Biography
Heidecker & Wood arose as a vehicle for Tim Heidecker—star of the Adult Swim program Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!—and Davin Wood, the series composer, to explore their shared affinity for soft rock. While developing material for the show inside Heidecker’s home, the two fashioned a track whose polished, ’70s-inspired sound diverged sharply from anything destined for Tim & Eric. Across the next two years they kept composing and tracking in that same idiom, eventually recruiting Rilo Kiley drummer Jason Boesel and bassist Pierre de Reeder to supplant the original programmed drums with live rhythm tracks. Those sessions yielded the duo’s first album, Starting from Nowhere, issued by Little Record Company in 2011. They resurfaced two years later with Some Things Never Stay the Same, a collection that gently lampooned the excesses of the soft-rock genre.
