Lucas Darío Giménez, performing as Argentinian MC Homer El Mero Mero, first rose through the rap-battle pair Bardero$ before shifting focus to individual releases in the closing years of the 2010s. His initial solo work drew on Golden Age boom-bap textures, after which he immersed himself in the surging RKT movement throughout the 2020s.
Raised in Neuquén within Argentina’s Patagonia region, the rapper developed an early passion for the genre under the guidance of his sibling, who records as Lil Troca. Partnering with C.R.O. in Bardero$, Giménez established himself on local circuits, earning notice in MC Mustafa Yoda’s A Cara De Perro competitions. The pair’s chemistry yielded the 2016 joint project Pure Drug. Capitalizing on that release, Giménez adopted the Homer El Mero Mero moniker and delivered his first solo album, Solo Negocios, in 2018, channeling his incisive lyricism and gritty delivery over classic boom-bap productions. He maintained the same approach on the 2019 follow-up En Punga, which included a guest appearance from fellow Argentinian battle rapper Duki.
The year 2020 brought further activity: a second Bardero$ album titled Me Sueltan Los Ángeles, the MDBCrew collaboration La Fiesta Es de Nosotros, and fifteen additional singles. Chief among them was the breakthrough “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 30,” a partnership with producer Bizarrap that surpassed twenty million streams. Early steps into RKT—a blend of cumbia rhythms and contemporary rap—appeared soon afterward; the track “Titubeo” with scene leader L-Gante accumulated fifty million streams, followed by “Bajo El Sol” alongside DJ Tao, “Bandolera” with Kaleb Di Masi, and the “Pa’ Tra Remix” featuring Callejero Fino. Even so, Giménez upheld his boom-bap foundation on the third Bardero$ album Inmortales and the 2022 solo effort El Mundo Es Tuyo.
