Biography
Indoor Garden Party functions less as a conventional band than as a fluid collective of songwriters, vocalists, and instrumentalists who convene for sporadic performances across the United States. Russell Crowe and Alan Doyle conceived the project after their 2005 partnership began, prompted by Crowe’s decision to disband 30 Odd Foot of Grunts and Doyle’s hiatus from Great Big Sea. The pair first recorded together as the Ordinary Fear of God, issuing the album My Hand, My Heart that same year, before shifting focus in 2011 with the release of The Crowe/Doyle Songbook, Vol. 3. Subsequent club dates under the Indoor Garden Party name regularly featured Scott Grimes and Kevin Durand alongside an evolving roster of supporting players. By 2017 the core lineup had stabilized around Crowe, Doyle, Grimes, producer and musician Carl Falk, and vocalist Samantha Barks, leading to the summer release of the album The Musical.
