Biography
Irish producer, musician, and mixer Garret "Jacknife" Lee earned a Grammy Award for his versatile approach that blends electronic, rock, and pop elements. His studio work includes U2, Snow Patrol, the Cars, Weezer, R.E.M., the Killers, Tears for Fears, Taylor Swift, and One Direction.
In the early '90s he played guitar in the Dublin garage-punk band Compulsion. His first solo album, the big beat-oriented My Rico!, arrived in 1999; he later issued Punk Rock High Roller under the name Jack Planck and followed with the self-titled Jacknife Lee in 2007.
Lee formed the country-tinged supergroup Tired Pony in 2009 alongside members of Snow Patrol, Belle and Sebastian, and R.E.M. Two well-received joint projects appeared soon after: the 2022 album Bamanan, recorded with Malian singer Rokia Koné, and the 2023 percussion-driven Los Angeles, made with Lol Tolhurst of the Cure and Budgie of Siouxsie and the Banshees.
