Biography
Originally from Pittsburgh, Jackson Scott headed to Asheville, North Carolina, for college before quickly abandoning his studies and piecing together an assortment of low-wage roles, one of which ended when he was dismissed for skipping shifts to catch a Ty Segall show. Amid these pursuits he passed hours in his bedroom capturing strange psychedelic sessions equally shaped by Syd Barrett and Weezer, most often featuring his own vocals raised to a pitch just below Chipmunk level. After posting the tracks on Soundcloud, he drew the notice of Fat Possum staff, who signed the twenty-year-old inner spaceman to a deal. His debut album, Melbourne, drawn from recordings made between September 2012 and January 2013, surfaced in summer 2013. Following extensive touring across the next year and more, Scott came back and started work on a successor. The outcome, 2015’s Sunshine Redux, arrived on the new imprint Bloodmoss Records.
