Jaz Klash arose on the Cup of Tea label as a breakbeat endeavor uniting Bristol trip-hop pair More Rockers with American hip-hop producer the Angel. Brooklyn-born, she had settled in Los Angeles by the early '90s and started her association with Delicious Vinyl. There she handled remixes for the Pharcyde, Brand New Heavies, Spearhead and Donald Byrd while also scoring tracks for the soundtracks Gridlock'd and Playing God. Following Rob Smith and Peter D of More Rockers remixing her 1995 single "Step into the Light," the three convened on the advice of the duo's manager Simon Goffe. That single session yielded the 1997 album Thru the Haze, whose keyboards were supplied by Jacky Terrasson and Brian Auger. She subsequently headed back to the States to focus on her own ventures, Supa Crucial and 60 Channels.
