Biography
Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Joanne Pollock works as a singer, songwriter, and producer. Her tracks fuse IDM with left-field pop, yielding dreamy, inquisitive pieces in which introspective lyrics integrate seamlessly with understated yet intricate electronic pulses. During the early 2010s she began uploading material online that merged dream pop with atmospheric electronics. The instrumental EP December appeared in 2013 and contained a track recorded by Aaron Funk, widely recognized for his Venetian Snares output. Pollock and Funk subsequently formed the duo Poemss, whose self-titled debut album was issued by Planet Mu in 2014. After releasing the EP Optimist in 2015, she relocated to Winnipeg, Funk’s birthplace. Her first solo full-length, Stranger—an accomplished collection of abstract electronic pop—came out on Funk’s Timesig imprint in 2017.
