Biography
Though primarily recognized for his Tony-winning stage work in The Changing Room along with screen appearances in Terms of Endearment, The World According to Garp, Footloose, and Shrek, John Lithgow has also established himself as a best-selling children’s author and recording artist. His debut children’s album, Singin’ in the Bathtub, arrived in 1999 and reinterpreted a selection of classic tunes. Three years afterward he issued Farkle and Friends, a recording tied to his book The Remarkable Farkle McBride and supported by the Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra. In 2006 Lithgow continued this effort to craft intelligent, appealing music for listeners of every age with The Sunny Side of the Street, an album that drew from the Great American Songbook and included guest turns by Madeleine Peyroux and cabaret singer Maude Maggart.
