Biography
John Watts co-established the UK art punk group Fischer-Z as one of its original members, functioning across roles as songwriter, musician, author, and a versatile presence in multiple media arenas. His professional entry into music occurred when Fischer-Z formed during the mid seventies. The ensemble subsequently secured a deal with United Artists, embarked on global tours, and moved a substantial quantity of recordings. Watts launched his solo output with the 1982 album One More Twist. He issued The Iceberg Model the following year, yet commitments to Fischer-Z soon dominated, creating an extended interval before any further solo work appeared. Fourteen years passed before that return, during which Fischer-Z delivered five additional albums, culminating in Watts's 2007 release 13 Stories High on SPV. His Ether Music & Film project from 2003 combined an album with a road film, and following a compilation plus DVD package from Fischer-Z, Watts resurfaced in 2007 via the paired albums Real Life Is Good Enough and It Has To Be. Both sets examined more organic approaches to music-making, after which a tour took place.
