Juan María Solare

Juan Maria Solare works as both pianist and composer, producing music that moves between the serious and the lighthearted while also connecting the traditional with the avant-garde. He received his training at the Conservatorio Nacional in Buenos Aires, the city of his birth, and continued his studies in Germany under such composers as Lachenmann and Kagel. Based in Breman, he teaches there and leads one of Europe's very few university-level courses in tango music while conducting the Jacobs Chamber Orchestra, the Bremer Orchester Gemeinschaft, and the university's Ensemble Kagel. Certain pieces call for acoustic instruments alone, yet others draw on contemporary methods such as overdubbing, a range that directly reflects the breadth of influences from composers including Franz Liszt, Astor Piazzolla, John Cage, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Solare has appeared in numerous cities throughout Europe and Argentina, and other performers have presented and recorded his music as well.
