Biography
Singer/songwriter Keith Sykes made his first appearance in 1969 through a self-titled album issued by Vanguard, with the follow-up 1 2 3 arriving the next year. Largely absent from view for most of the early 1970s, he reemerged toward the close of the decade as a guitarist in Jimmy Buffett’s touring band while also delivering the solo release The Way That I Feel in 1977. I’m Not Strange, I’m Just Like You came out in 1980, yet after the 1982 appearance of It Don’t Hurt to Flirt, Sykes became known chiefly for his songwriting, supplying material to Buffett, John Prine, the Judds, and other artists. He joined Prine’s Oh Boy! roster in 1992 and issued It’s About Time, his first solo album in roughly a decade, before Advanced Medication for the Blues appeared in 1998.
