Devante Pirtle, performing as King Critical, works as a rapper and dancer from his base in Killeen, Texas. Early attention came from posting dance routines on social platforms, though he has since turned toward recording tracks filled with bounce.
Born in Tennessee as the oldest of five siblings, he later enrolled in business courses at Middle Tennessee University. He channeled an understanding of online trends into building a following as a digital personality. Multiple short dance clips went viral and drew notice from figures such as Cardi B and Missy Elliot, sharply lifting his profile. In 2020 he moved into music by issuing his debut album Straight to the League.
