Biography
Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, King Garbage operates as a duo whose sound fuses soul-pop, garage rock, hip-hop, junkyard funk, lo-fi Motown, and psych-tinged R&B into a form that resists straightforward classification. Vic Dimotsis and Zach Cooper form the lineup, serving as writers, producers, and multi-instrumentalists who have co-authored hits for SZA, Travis Scott, the Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, Leon Bridges, and numerous other acts. Their first album, Make It Sweat, appeared in 2017 on the Brooklyn independent label Styles Upon Styles. Distinctive, beat-driven sonic world building from the pair drew interest from Ipecac, which placed King Garbage on its reliably idiosyncratic roster. The duo followed with its second long-player in 2022, the chaotic, garage-soul-leaning Heavy Metal Greasy Love.
