Klazz Brothers

Tobias Forster on piano and Kilian Forster on bass, both hailing from Germany, form the duo known as the Klazz Brothers. During travels in Cuba, the pair developed a deep appreciation for the island’s musical traditions. A chance encounter with musicians from Compay Segundo’s ensemble led them to believe that their standard classical repertoire could be reinterpreted through the lens of Cuban and Afro-Cuban Jazz. Teaming up with Cuba Percussion, a collective of local studio players, they produced the album Classic Meets Cuba, which first appeared in Germany toward the end of 2002. The recording reached American audiences via a Sony Classical reissue in the beginning of 2004. Two years after that came Mozart Meets Cuba.
