Biography
High-energy punk rock originals alongside covers of classic klezmer material define the output of Kletka Red. Fronting the ensemble is Berlin-based singer and guitarist Leonid Soybelman, with the lineup completed by drummer Tony Buck, formerly of Japan's Ground Zero, and guitarist Andy Ex from the Dutch rock band The Ex. The group's first international release, Hijacking, appeared on John Zorn's Tzadik label in 1996. Crowds at multiple new music festivals, among them the 1997 Taktlos event and Quebec's FIMAV in 1998, have registered equal measures of astonishment and admiration for their performances.
