Biography
After the dissolution of cyber-rock band Neu! in 1975, German percussionist Klaus Dinger launched La Dusseldorf. The project channeled Neu!'s minimalist pop-meets-German experimentalism through a punk-derived "less is more" drive, elevating the group to the forefront of Europe's progressive rock scene by the late 1970s. Their three albums—La Dusseldorf (1976), Viva (1978), and Individuellos (1981)—sold more than a million copies combined. The 1976 European hit single "Silver Cloud" further boosted their profile. Following La Dusseldorf's disbanding in 1981, Dinger resurfaced only intermittently, issuing the solo albums Neondian in 1985 and Die Engel Des Herrn in 1993.
