Originating in Stockton, California, the veteran regional Mexican ensemble La Migra amassed a wealth of successful recordings and released several retrospective collections over its long career. Although the act first emerged during the 1970s, its roster experienced repeated and substantial personnel shifts across the decades. Among its most cherished figures stood Sacramento Gonzales and Miguel Ramírez, widely recognized by the alias El Manix; the ensemble’s name itself originated from the latter’s own, constructed as MIGuel RAmírez. Ramírez vanished in June 2011, prompting deep alarm among relatives, colleagues, and fellow performers, until his remains surfaced fourteen days afterward inside a Mexico City morgue.
