Ladi6

Ladi6, born Karoline Tamati and based in Auckland, New Zealand, works as a contemporary R&B singer and rapper whose solo album debut arrived in 2008 after earlier years spent in groups and various joint projects. She launched her career in the early 2000s as a member of the all-girl hip-hop group Sheelahroc, which scored a minor hit with "If I Gave You the Mic." Midway through the decade she joined Verse Two, a contemporary R&B band with a hip-hop edge. Across that period she also collaborated with a wide range of artists, among them Shapeshifter, her cousin Scribe, Fat Freddy's Drop, and 50Hz.

Her first solo album, Time Is Not Much, appeared in 2008. Produced by Parks and Mu of Fat Freddy's Drop, it reached the Top Five on the New Zealand albums chart and received an Australian release as well. The album features the single "Walk Right Up." Around the same time the non-album single "Go Get It" came out on the renowned German electronica label Compost Records.
