L'Affaire Louis' Trio formed as a French art pop outfit in Lyon back in 1982. The lineup featured Hubert Mounier handling vocals and guitar under the alias Cleet Boris, his brother Vincent Mounier on guitar and bass as Karl Niagara, and François Lebleu covering keyboards and drums as Bronco Junior. Six studio albums later, the group first surfaced to widespread notice in 1987 with Chic Planète, issued on Barclay Records and tracked alongside an extensive roster of session players. That debut yielded two Top 30 singles in "Tout Mais Pas Ça" and "Chic Planète," while also securing the Victoires de la Musique honor for Révélation Variétés Masculine de l'Année. Follow-up releases arrived in steady succession: Le Retour de l'Âge d'Or in 1988, Sans Légende in 1990, Mobilis in Mobile in 1993, L'Homme aux Milles Vies in 1995, and a self-titled effort in 1997. The track "Mobilis in Mobile" itself climbed into the French Top 20 that same year. After a decade of activity the trio disbanded in 1997, prompting the 1998 compilation Le Meilleur de l'Affaire. Singer and chief songwriter Hubert Mounier then launched a solo trajectory that produced Le Grand Huit in 2001, Voyager Léger in 2005, and Affaire Classée in 2008.
